An oil on board painting by the American artist George Coggeshall (1914-1994). This abstract work features two lines going through a square surrounded by surreal dream-like designs in orange, red, blue, and gray. Displayed in a black frame, the painting is estate stamped verso and unsigned.
Born in Elgin, Illinois, Coggeshall served as an artist and illustrator for the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to Chicago where he studied at the American Academy of Art and the Mizen Art Academy. He went on to become a successful commercial artist working for Meyercord Decal where he had well known clients such as RC Cola, Nehi, and Phillip Morris.
