Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker German Ceramic Wall Tile Plaque

$650.00

A ceramic wall tile plaque by the German artist Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker (1921-2010). The square tile has an abstract design with blue and yellow crescent-shapes central to the composition. Shades of gold, brown, green, and white create the rest of the design, that is similarly shaped to a crab-like creature. Signed “Schäffenacker Ulm/Do. Made in Germany Handeformt N32" to verso, with a wire attached for hanging.

Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker completed an apprenticeship with sculptor Rudolf Pauschinger before opening his own studio "Atelier Schäffenacker." During the second half of the 1950s, Schäffenacker shifted his focus to making ceramic wall panels, primarily with figurative motifs in relief. Schäffenacker continued to create until 1993, when his kiln fell into disrepair.
