Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker German Ceramic Wall Tile Plaque

$350.00

A ceramic wall tile plaque by the German artist Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker (1921-2010). The rectangular tile has an abstract design with a blue-green and orange crescent-shape central to the composition. Shades of orange, brown, and white create the rest of the bird-like design. Marked “Schäffenacker Ulm/Do. Made in Germany Handeformt N1" to verso, there is a wire attached verso for hanging.

Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker completed an apprenticeship with sculptor Rudolf Pauschinger before opening his own studio "Atelier Schäffenacker." During the second half of the 1950s, Schäffenacker shifted his focus to making ceramic wall panels, primarily with figurative motifs in relief. Schäffenacker continued to create until 1993, when his kiln fell into disrepair.
