An acrylic painting by the American artist James Cunningham (1948-1991). The painting depicts a space-like scene with planet and space vessel floating against a dark background. Unsigned, the painting has a Cunningham Gallery tag verso and is displayed in a white metal frame and a white mat.
James Cunningham was born in Bloomington, Indiana, and pursued careers in both art and science. He enjoyed making sculptures, paintings, theater sets, and more, completing an artist exchange at Rio Grande do Sul in the 1980s. Cunningham was killed in a helicopter crash in 1991.
