A stencil dyed print by the Japanese artist Kichiemon Okamura (1916-2002). This colorful work depicts an array of various blossoming flowers with a bee and a dragonfly flying amidst the blossoms. Marked with a chopmark to the lower left, the print is displayed in a wooden frame and a cream mat.
Born in the Tottori prefecture, Kichiemon Okamura studied traditional stencil dying with Japanese artist Serizawa Keisuke. He was also a student of the founder of the Japanese Folk Art Movement, Yanagi Muneyoshi. Kichiemon Okamura taught at Tamagawa Art University in Tokyo and was on the Board of Directors of Tokyo's Japan Folk Art Museum.
