A limited edition sculpture by artist Bertil Vallien (born 1938) for Swedish company Kosta Boda. The sculpture is comprised of orange glass with squares and house-shapes in relief to the front of the sculpture. A face with a blue top hat is encased within the glass, peeking out from a rectangular shape on the front of the sculpture. Signed "7173023 Kosta Boda Lim. Ed. 100" to the bottom left corner and underside.
Bertil Vallien is a highly respected glass artist and designer. In the 1950s, he studied under Stig Lindberg at the art school Konstfack in Stockholm. Best known for his work at Kosta Boda, Vallien is celebrated for sand casted sculptures. Many of these sculptures have the repeated motif faces.
