A mid-century bronze abstract sculpture signed by American artist Isidore Grossman (born 1908). The sculpture depicts a slender pair of nude figures standing face to face. The sculpture is signed at the bottom and attached to a wood base.
Born in New York, Grossman was a friend and studio assistant of the Modern artist Jacques Lipchitz (1891-1973) during the 1950s. Grossman did not have formal schooling as an artist but records of him exhibiting his sculptures begin in 1939 with him participating in exhibitions at the Carnegie Institute and the New School for Social Research in New York City. In 1940, his works were included in exhibits at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, as well as having works included as part of the New York City WPA Art Project. In 1943, he joined the United States Army to serve during World War II. After returning from the War, Grossman exhibited works at the Whitney Museum in New York, as well as working as a studio assistant to Jacques Lipchitz.
