Alan Wallwork Studio Pottery Sculpture

$850.00

A studio pottery sculpture by the English artist Alan Wallwork (1931-2019). The sculpture has a distinctive egg-shape with an opening at the top. The vessel is decorated with rows of small holes, creating a dotted pattern. Shades of light blue and brown create a speckled design. The work is signed "AW" to the underside.

Alan Wallwork attended England's Newlands Park Teacher Training College and Goldsmith in London. Wallwork studied ceramics, printmaking, and painting. Taking two part-time jobs after college, Wallwork taught art and pottery, before opening his own studio, The Alan Gallery, with fellow alumni. Wallwork was the only Goldsmith student to sell artwork successfully, so the studio closed shortly after opening. Wallwork continued to work and show his art at various galleries across England, before holding his last exhibition in 2015.
