A 1973 oil on canvas painting by American artist Carl E. Schwartz (1935-2014). Signed to the lower right corner, this painting features the body of a nude woman lying on a blue and green patterned rug. Portions of the patterned background are layered on top of the nude figure. Displayed in a wood frame with gold tone edge, the painting is dated verso.
Carl E. Schwartz was born in Detroit, Michigan, and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. Schwartz taught figure drawing and painting at the North Shore Art League for nearly 30 years before retiring in Florida.

Condition notes:
Some scuffs to frame as well as some chips to the frame wood. Edges of metal on frame do not meet. Some discoloration and wear to canvas, most notably near edges.
