Walter Sorge Signed Limited Edition “Metamorphic Forms” Abstract Etching

A black etching entitled Metamorphic Forms by Canadian artist Walter Sorge (1931-2021). Gestural bodies bend and twist in space. The illustration is richly texture and uses different markmaking techniques. The print is signed "Sorge", titled, and numbered 79/80. 

Born in Alberta, Canada, Walter Felix Sorge attended UCLA and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from there during the 1950s. He continued his education at Columbia University in New York where he received his Doctorate in Fine Art and Fine Art Education. Sorge also studied under Stanley William Hayter in Paris and worked at Atelier 17. He later had an extensive career as an art educator and served as head of the art department at Kentucky Southern College in Louisville, the head of the art department at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, as well as chairman of the art department at Eastern Illinois University. Sorge exhibited widely during his lifetime in the United States and abroad.

Condition notes:

Minor markings to the border. Corner bends with minor wear along the edge of the paper. Indented scratches present on the border.
