An oil on canvas by the American artist Abbott Pattison (1916-1999). Titled Painting Porch, the painting depicts a colorful composition with abstract figures seated on a wrap around porch. Signed to the lower right corner, the painting has a black frame.
Born in Chicago, Pattison studied at Yale where he graduated with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After serving in the navy during World War II, he went on to teach at the North Shore Art League and the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as Maine's Skowhegan School of Art after he moved to Maine in 1993. Pattison's works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Whitney Museum of Art in New York City, the San Francisco Museum of Art, as well as others.
