Barbara Rogers Houseworth was an artist born in 1925 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was interested in the arts from a young age and eventually attended college at Indiana University to study Fine Arts. While there she learned under the tutelage of artists Harry Engel and Steve Greene who painted in the social realist and abstract style classic to mid-century artists. Later marrying and birthing two daughters Houseworth and after several moves the family settled in Illinois where she began to paint scenes of domestic life. Her work has been shown in the John Herron Art Museum and a retrospective of her art has been shown in the Madden Arts Center in Decatur, Illinois.
