A pastel drawing by the Italian-American artist Bruno Beghé (1892-1973). Titled Corner of Ibiza, this drawing depicts a street corner on the Spanish island of Ibiza. Signed to the lower left, the drawing is displayed in a black wooden frame and a white mat.
Born in Carrara, Italy, Beghé studied at the Academia di Belle Arti in Carrara. In 1923, he immigrated to the United States and quickly immersed himself in the arts in his new home. During the 1930s, Beghé was a member of Chicago's The Palette and Chisel Academy, The North Shore Art Guild, The All-Illinois Society of Fine Arts, as well as the Art Leagues in both Oak Park and River Forest. He also was director of the Municipal Art League of Chicago. Also a sculptor, Beghé's marble sculpture of South Dakota's Joseph Ward is displayed in the Hall of Columns at the U.S. Capitol and is owned by the Smithsonian.
