James Massena March Signed Acrylic on Canvas Abstract Painting


An acrylic on canvas abstract painting by the American artist James Massena March (1953-2021). This vibrant painting depicts overlapping hard lines and shapes over a panoply of color. Thin brushstrokes of hot pink, purple, teal, and black compose several of the shapes. The painting is signed "J. March" verso and displayed in a black wooden frame.

James Massena March was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and spent most of his life living in Ohio. March attended The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and Rhode Island School of Design for some time, eventually receiving his Bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University and Master's of Fine Art at Kent State University. His work is in the collections of PNC Bank, Cleveland State University, and Case Western Reserve University.

Condition notes:

Minor scratches and wear to the frame. The corners of the canvas are slightly slack and there is a slight ripple at the corners. Couple small flecks of paint missing (see third photo).
