Cy Decosse Bronze Owl Sculpture

A miniature bronze sculpture by American photographer and designer Cy Decosse (b. 1929). This bronze depicts an abstract owl with two round eyes, zig zag feathers, and a small beak. The sculpture is signed on the side. 

Decosse was born in North Dakota in 1929, raised in Minnesota, and became a renowned commercial photographer, designer, and advertiser graduating from the Minneapolis School of Art (now the Minneapolis College of Art and Design). He started as a junior art director, received a Fulbright in 1954 which took him to Florence where he taught advertising and learned photography under the instruction of Renzo Maggini. Working with companies such as Campbell-Mithun, General Mills, Proctor & Gamble, Heublein, and Conagra, Decosse became well known for his work. In his later years he started painting with egg tempera in addition to photography.
