Francis Revesz Ferryman Signed Oil on Board Abstract Nude Painting


An oil on board painting by the Hungarian-American artist Frances Revesz Ferryman (1893-1983). This abstract work depicts a nude figure reclining on a divan and surrounding the figure are Cubist style paintings hanging on the wall. Signed to the lower right, the painting is displayed in a black wooden frame.

Born in Hungary, Ferryman studied at the University of Architecture in Budapest, Hungary and later studied in London with Frank Brangwyn and Walter Sickert. Ferryman eventually immigrated to the United States and exhibited widely, including at the Art Institute of Chicago, the 1925 Salons of America, as well as at galleries in New York and Philadelphia.
