A 1971 oil on canvas painting by the American artist George Coggeshall (1914-1994). This colorful work depicts two figures with skeletal faces in blue, pink, yellow, green, and orange. Signed and dated to the lower left, the painting is displayed in an off-white wooden frame and is also signed verso.
Born in Elgin, Illinois, Coggeshall served as an artist and illustrator for the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to Chicago where he studied at the American Academy of Art and the Mizen Art Academy. He went on to become a successful commercial artist working for Meyercord Decal where he had well known clients such as RC Cola, Nehi, and Phillip Morris.

Scratches and other wear to frame. Repair to painting at center, patch visible to verso. Small areas of stray white paint center left and right.
