Gilbert Hancox Signed 1957 Abstract Ink Drawing

$175.00

A 1957 abstract ink drawing by the English-American artist Gilbert Hancox (born 1908). This piece showcases the artist's attention to detail with thin geometric lines. The delicate strokes create a sense of precision and depth with multiple repeated patterns confined within one larger abstract shape. Signed and dated to the right side of the composition, the drawing is framed in a red metal frame behind a cream mat.

Gilbert Hancox was born near London and moved to the United States at age 18. After studying at the Art Students League of New York, Hancox's early career included painting the sets for operas, television, ballets, and other productions. Most notably, he worked for the Metropolitan Opera Company. His other interest was Surrealism, creating drawings in the style through the end of his life.
