An embossed woodblock print by the Japanese artist Haku Maki (1924-2000). Titled Poem 71-91 (Nothing), this abstract work depicts a kanji-inspired design of thick black lines accented with a white circle and a yellow teardrop shape. Displayed in a black frame, the print is signed, titled, and numbered 10/108 along the bottom edge.
Haku Maki was a prolific Japanese artist of the 20th century. His birth name was Maejima Tadaaki but he selected the name Haku Maki in the late 1950s to go by. Many museums have Maki's work in their collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Portland Art Museum, Cincinnati Museum of Art, and the Cleveland Art Museum.
