Harold Altman Signed “Passante II” Limited Edition Aquatint Etching

A limited edition aquatint by the American artist Harold Altman (1924-2003). Titled Passante II, this work depicts a park path winding toward the left with trees lining the path on the right. A figure walks past the trees and two people sitting on a bench near the center of the work. Signed to the lower right, the print is titled to the lower center and numbered 135/150 to the lower left. The work is displayed in a black and silver tone wooden frame and a fabric-lined mat.

Born in New York City, Altman studied at the Art Students League, the Cooper Union Art School, and Black Mountain College. His works are held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Whitney Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, as well as others both in the United States and in Europe. Altman was awarded several fellowships and accolades including a Fulbright-Hayes Senior Research Fellowship, a National Institute of Arts and Letters Award, two Guggenheim Fellowships, and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant.
