A 1961 abstract mixed media painting titled Lesser Aspect II by the American artist Harry Bouras (1931-1990). This work features an array of red, brown, and navy blue paint that has been applied over a sculpted array of brush-like designs. Nails have been hammered into the front of the work and add a mixed media element. The piece is signed, dated, and titled verso and displayed in a wooden frame.
Born in Rochester, New York, Harry Bouras studied art at the University of Rochester and he later moved to Chicago. He both studied at and was an artist-in-residence at the University of Chicago during the 1960s. Bouras exhibited several times at the Art Institute of Chicago and was a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in the 1970s.
