A mixed media painting in gouache with colored pencil and graphite accents by American artist Harry Hilson (1935-2004). A purple-gray background is contrasted by abstract shapes, in bright colors, green, red, blue, orange, yellow, black, and white. Two birds are depicted at the bottom of the composition, looking at a square "painting." Signed and titled to the bottom edge of the paper.

Harry Hilson was active from the 1950s-2000. He created a variety of works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, wool tapestries, and more. His studios could be found in New York, Los Angeles, Sarasota, and Aspen.

22” x 30” (paper); 20.5” x 25” (image).

Condition notes:

Markings through the border and verso. Wear to the edges. Pin holes on the corners and bottom. Other age appropriate wear present.
