Jeff Oestreich Studio Pottery Yunomi Cup

A studio pottery yunomi tea cup by the American ceramicist Jeff Oestreich (born 1947). This cup features a hexagonal shape, with an abstract orange, yellow, and green pattern to its exterior. It is marked "J.O" to the lower edge.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Oestreich studied studied art at Bemidji State University and at University of Minnesota. It was at the University of Minnesota that Oestreich was first introduced to ceramics by Warren Mackenzie. He went to serve an apprenticeship under Bernard Leach during the 1960s. His works are held in numerous collections, including the Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian National Museum of Design in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Icheon World Ceramic Center in Korea, among others.
