A Postmodern ceramic box by the American artist duo Jerry Berta and Madeline Kaczmarczyk. This white ceramic box is in the shape of a heart and has colorful designs on the front. The underside of the box is signed with the couple's combined signature "Bertacyzk".
Jerry Berta received his BFA from Wayne State University in 1973 and began operating his own studio in 1975. Berta restores classic diners, which is further reflected in his unique studio pottery that encompasses American life. His work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of Art, among others.
Madeline Kaczmarczyk received her BA from Aquinas College, where she went on to teach pottery for many years. Kaczmarczyk has exhibited at the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery and the American Craft Museum in NYC, among others.
Berta and Kaczmarczyk work together today as a ceramic duo, combining their styles under one name "Bertacyzk".
