A 2006 signed limited edition abstract serigraph and digital print titled Oasis by American artist Joan Snyder (born 1940). This print was featured as The 2006 Presentation Print of the Print Club of New York. Originating from the artist's Black Pond series, Snyder created this print by drawing with black ink on polyester film. This process was repeated and then transferred to screens, layering the unique imagery in various colors. Digitized studies of the print were utilized by the artist to create the finished product. Signed to the lower right and numbered 93/200 to the lower left, the work is titled to the lower center and displayed in a metal frame with a white mat.
Joan Snyder is a well-established and recognized New York artist, a MacArthur Fellow, a Guggenheim Fellow, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellow. She attended Rutgers University, completing an MFA in 1966. Snyder's work began receiving attention soon there after, with pieces featured in the Whitney Biennial and the Corcoran Biennial. Additionally, Snyder founded the Mary H. Dana Women Artist Series, the longest-running continuous exhibition space in the United States for contemporary women artists. Her work can be found in many prestigious institutions, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Guggenheim, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, and the Tate, amongst others.
