A lithograph of a bull by the Chinese-American artist John Chin Young (1909-1997). This print features a bull, sitting down in a curled-up position, in cream and brown. Held in a wooden frame against a cream mat, this piece is signed to the lower right and numbered 31/35 lower left.
John Chin Young was born Honolulu, Hawaii in 1909 to Chinese immigrant parents. His interest in art began at an early age, when he took Chinese calligraphy lessons when he was eight. After finishing high school, his art practice was entirely self-taught. He collected art throughout his life and donated his collections to museums in Hawaii. His work has been shown at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Honolulu Museum of Art, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in California.
