Kathy Draper Signed “Roots” Oil on Board Abstract Painting

An oil of board abstract painting by American artist Kathy Draper. Signed and titled Roots to the verso, this piece is an explosion of yellow, orange, green, blue, and black. The attention to detail is evident by the intricate interlacing of the "root system." Initialed to the verso, the painting is unframed but has a wall hanging tab attached to the verso. This piece was made by Hicks as part of a fundraiser for Lamia Ink!, a not-for-profit arts organization.

Katharine "Kathy" Draper studied art and received a graphic design degree from the Parsons School of Design in New York City. She has studied the art of flower arranging in Japan, receiving multiple accolades from the Sogetsu Ikebana School in Toyko. Additionally, Draper has received awards from Catharine Lorillard Wolf Club, Art of the Northeast, New Haven Paint and Clay, Rowayton Arts Center and Connecticut Contemporary Print Center.
