A serigraph print, titled Papillon Fleur (Butterfly Flower), by the Japanese artist Kozo Inoue (1937-2017). This piece features a light blue butterfly floating in front of a gradient blue-black background. Held in a black frame and mounted on black linen, this piece is signed, titled, and numbered 17/150 to the lower edge.
Born in Osaka in 1937, Kozo Inoue studied the History of Western Art at the Keio University, graduating in 1960. He went on to continue his study of art at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, traveling back and forth between Japan and France. He often experimented with color gradients and often included natural objects such as flowers or fruit as the subject of his work.
