Mark Richardson Signed 1998 Studio Pottery Vase

$398.00

A tall, rounded studio pottery vase made in 1998 by American artist Mark S. Richardson. This work features a variety of surface detailing processes including brushed glaze work and incising. Hand drawn ovals, lines and dots cover the surface to create motion and depth. The incised lines are primarily carved atop black glaze lines, which create a sort of shadow. Dark green and white glazes make up the base color of the work. There is a small hole at the top of the work, which allows it to function as a bud vase. On the underside of the work, it is signed "R 98".

Mark S. Richardson was Head Instructor of Ceramics at Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis from the 1980s until his retirement in the mid-2010s. Throughout his fine art career, he worked in ceramics, mixed media, conceptual art, and photography. Richardson received his B.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and his M.F.A. from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.
