Michael Baum Mixed Media Collage and Painting


A mixed media collage and painting by the American artist Michael Baum (1933-2021). This abstract work features the stenciled work "Michael" repeated in a column to the upper half of the work. White paint, collaged brown paper, and flecks of color pigment create the rest of this abstract composition. The work is mounted on black board and displayed in a wooden frame.

Lifelong artist and craftsman, Michael Baum was originally from New York and exhibited widely in the 1960s. Baum attended the University of Georgia and later art school in New York where he met his future artist wife, Reiko Sakagami. Baum opened a framing company before becoming the owner and horse breeder of Man O' War Farm in Lexington, KY, where he lived out his life.

Condition notes:

Intentional wear, rips, and crumbling to the collaged paper. Some buckling to the paper. Scratches and scuffs to the frame.
