Richard Florsheim Signed “The Mooring” Lithograph

A lithograph by the American artist Richard Florsheim (1916-1979). Titled The Mooring, this abstract work depicts an misty and foggy composition of a boat mooring. Signed to the lower right, the lithograph is displayed in a black frame with a white mat.

Born in Chicago, Florsheim attended the University of Chicago and then went on to study art under Aaron Bohrod at New York's Museum of Modern Art and at the Metropolitan Museum. He also attended the Musee Nationale d'Art Moderne in Paris. He exhibited his works at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum, and the Salon des Refuses in Paris. During the 1950s, Florsheim was assistant director to Chicago's Arts Center Association and also taught at the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee. During the 1960s and 70s, he was a board member of the Illinois Arts Council.
