An abstract etching of an interior by American artist Robert C. Ray (1926-2020). The etching depicts a scene with various objects arranged upon a writing desk that is grounded by a chest of drawers and groupings of art. Displayed in a black frame with a white mat, this work is unsigned.
Born in Elwood, Indiana, Ray attended the John Herron Art School in Indianapolis. After spending time abroad in Spain and Italy in 1953, he studied under Hans Hoffman in Provincetown, Massachusetts at Hoffman's School of Fine Art. Ray was also a writer and poet with several published books. In addition to being an artist, Ray also ran an interior decorating business in Indianapolis.
