Robert W. Crawford Signed 1968 “Stage Manager” Oil on Canvas Portrait Painting

A 1968 oil on canvas portrait painting by the American artist Robert W. Crawford (1923-2007). Titled Stage Manager, this painting portrays a man seated at the center of the composition with stage lights casting bright yellow, blue, and orange orbs of light and around him. Signed to the lower left, the painting is displayed in a black wooden frame and a 1968 Hoosier Salon exhibition tag is attached to the verso.

Robert W. Crawford served in the military in the Second World War and taught as an art teacher at Emmerich Manual High School for 39 years. His work was also shown in the Indianapolis Museum of Art (Newfields).
