An abstract intaglio print by the Japanese artist Shoichi Hasegawa (1929-2023). Titled Envolée Florale (Floral Flourish), this abstract work depicts a landscape scene with rolling hills and images of figures, plants, vehicles, and other biomorphic designs. A red and green sun floats in the sky above against a pale blue sky. Signed, titled, and numbered 105/110 to the lower edge, the print is displayed in a wooden frame and a white mat.
Born in Yazu, Japan, Hasegawa studied art at the Kokuga Institute in Kyoto and later moved to Paris where he studied under Stanley William Hayter at Atelier 17. Since 1957, he had over 60 solo exhibitions of his works. Hasegawa's works are held in the collections of numerous museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, among others.
