A mixed media painting on board titled The Die is Cast by the American artist Slade Graves. A colorful composition that explores imagery of death and resurrection, this monumental painting depicts Christ rising from his tomb. A despondent Saint Peter with rooster are pictured to the right of Christ. The writing across the top of the painting reads: "The die was cast the cast intact. 12 men. 1 Christ. No turning back. / the cup is past the first the last. 12th hour. 1st son. the deed / IS DONE. Amen." Signed and dated to the lower right corner, the painting is displayed in a black frame.

Condition notes:
Some scuffs to frame. Chip to bottom right corner and edges of board as well as other wear to the edges of the board. Screw heads are visible in the face of the painting. Top edge of board has been cut in a diagonal. Other signs of wear including intentional distressing.
