Tomoe Yokoi Signed “Oil Vessel” Artist’s Proof Mezzotint Print


An artist's proof mezzotint print by the Japanese artist Tomoe Yokoi (born 1942). Titled Oil Vessel, this broody still life depicts a funnel and oil cans arranged on a tray with a dark background. Signed to the lower right, the print is titled to the lower center and marked "A.P." for artist's proof lower left. The print is unframed.

Born in Nagoya, Japan, Yokoi studied art at Tokyo's Bunka-Gakuen University where the curriculum emphasized realism and everyday still life subject matter. She later moved to Paris, where she studied under Stanley William Hayter, and then later to New York. Yokoi's works are represented in the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris and the Brooklyn Museum.
