A red, blue, and yellow etching of abstracted figures in motion titled Dancing Figures by Canadian artist Walter Sorge (1931-2021). A group of figures bend and twist with their hair flowing freely in an atmospheric landscape. Signed "Sorge," titled Dancing Figures, and numbered 20/40" on the front.

Born in Alberta, Canada, Walter Felix Sorge attended UCLA and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees during the 1950s. He continued his education at Columbia University in New York where he received his Doctorate in Fine Art and Fine Art Education. Sorge also studied under Stanley William Hayter in Paris and worked at Atelier 17. He later had an extensive career as an art educator and served as head of the art department at Kentucky Southern College in Louisville, the head of the art department at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, as well as chairman of the art department at Eastern Illinois University. Sorge exhibited widely during his lifetime in the United States and abroad.

Condition notes:

Signs of wear around the edges. Crinkles to the paper around the edges. Some discoloration to the verso.
