A nude bronze sculpture by Italian artist Costantino Nivola (1911-1988). This sculpture features an abstracted nude figure of a woman attached to a stone base. Originally from the artist's estate, this piece is unsigned.
Born in Sardinia, Italy, Constantino Nivola grew up in poverty and worked as a stonemason as a young man. In 1931, he enrolled in the State Institute of Industrial Arts. By 1938, however, he fled Fascism for Paris and then to the United States the following year. He is known for his architectural works, murals, and sculptures. Following his passing, The Nivola Museum in Sardinia carries the largest collection of his work.
