A 1974 woodblock print by the Japanese artist Haku Maki (1924-2000). Titled Work 74-42 , this work depicts a simple composition with one large stroke of black near the center and a black and gold dot to the right corner of the piece. The print is signed at the lower right, numbered at the lower left, and titled in the lower center. It is displayed in a silver tone metal frame and a white mat.
Haku Maki was a prolific Japanese artist of the 20th century. His birth name was Maejima Tadaaki but he selected the name Haku Maki in the late 1950s to go by. Many museums have Maki's work in their collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Portland Art Museum, Cincinnati Museum of Art, and the Cleveland Art Museum.
