Roberto Juarez 1989 “Before 17 Days” Lithograph

A 1989 lithograph by the American artist Roberto Juarez (born 1952). Titled Before 17 Days, this lithograph was printed by the Tamarind Institute and depicts what appears to be a mullein plant stretching diagonally across the page from left to right crossing two parallel lines that run horizontally across the page. In the right hand corner is the number 222 written backwards. The piece is signed, dated, and numbered on the bottom left edge and sits in a black frame and a white mat. 

Juarez was born in Chicago in 1952 and received his BFA at San Francisco Art Institute in 1975 as well as his graduate degree at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1978. His work has been well exhibited both nationally and internationally with his work featuring in the collections of Goldman Sachs, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art among others.
