A 1978 oil on canvas painting by American artist William Itter (1942-2025). Titled Summer Excursion, this large painting features an abstract landscape scene, composed of geometric shapes, in shades of grey and white. This piece is signed, dated, and titled to its verso.

William Itter was an artist, philanthropist, award-winning art educator and collector, who made an impact on hundreds of students during his 35-year long tenure at Indiana University. His wife, Diane Itter, was also a painter, as well as a textile artist. After her passing, he opened the William and Diane Itter Object Study at the Eskenazi Museum of Art, where he donated his collection of art and memorabilia.
