An oil on canvas painting titled Plaza by American artist Francis Chapin (1899-1965). This piece depicts the Fontana dei Discuri and the Obelisk Quirnale in Rome in front of a vibrant blue and yellow sky. Displayed in a brown frame, this piece is signed in the bottom right corner and tagged on the verso.
Francis Chapin was born in Bristolville, Ohio but went on to spend most of his life in Chicago as an instructor at the Art Institute as well as Martha's Vineyard as the Artist-in-Residence at the Old Sculpin Gallery and eventually at the University of Georgia as a visiting artist. His artwork has been featured in Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
