An oil on canvas still life painting by American artist Roy Sieber (1923-2001). This Cezanne-like still life painting depicts apples and peaches arranged on a blue and white tablecloth. Displayed in a gold tone wooden frame, this piece came from the artist's estate and is unsigned . 

Born in Shiwano, Wisconsin, Roy Sieber took an interest in the arts at an early age, and in particular, African art. He studied at the New School for Social Research in New York as well as the University of Iowa before becoming a professor at Indiana University's African Studies Program as the Rudy Professor of Fine Arts in 1962. In 1983, he became Associate Director for Collections and Research at the National Museum of African Art, where he created several African Art exhibits. Scholars have credited Sieber as the “founder of the discipline of African art history in the United States.”
