An abstract metal sculpture of a figure by the American artist Abbott Pattison (1916-1999). Layers of intricate metal pieces come together to create an abstract angular figure. This piece is unsigned.
Born in Chicago, Pattison studied at Yale where he graduated with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After serving in the navy during World War II, he went on to teach at the North Shore Art League and the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as Maine's Skowhegan School of Art after he moved to Maine in 1993. Pattison's works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Whitney Museum of Art in New York City, the San Francisco Museum of Art, as well as others.
