Born in Emporia, Kansas, Lostutter studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is most well known for being a member of the Chicago Imagists. His works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Smithsonian, the Nelson-Atkins Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, among others.
