Roger Lersy 1960 Signed “Les Regates” Oil on Canvas Painting of Boats

A 1960 abstract oil on canvas painting by the French artist Roger Lersy (1920-2004). Titled Les Regates, the composition depicts abstract boats with sails on choppy waters. The boats are highlighted in bright shades of orange and yellow with intricate swirling brushstrokes adding a whimsical nature to the composition. Signed and dated to the lower right corner and titled verso, the painting is displayed in a gold tone wooden frame with fabric inlay.

Roger Lersy was born in Paris and attended the École des Arts Apppliqués for both art and music. In 1946, he helped establish the School of Paris’ New Graphic School. His artwork has been awarded with the Prix des Amateurs d'Art and the Prize of the City of Marseille and has exhibited worldwide.
