Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, James Kearns is an artist and sculptor who specializes in the human figure as well as the human spirit. He earned his B.F.A. in 1950 from the Art Institute of Chicago while working in a factory to support his family. He went on to teach at the School of Visual Art in New York in 1959.
